We’re busy preparing for the latest of our “knitting café” events. It’s been a while since we’ve hosted one, but we’ve been given a wonderful opportunity to use a brand new space in Florence dedicated to creativity and we couldn’t let that pass us by!
On Thursday April 28th from 7-10pm, please join us for an evening of knitting, crafts, music and good food at the just-inaugurated space of Le Murate in Florence.
Le Murate was built as a convent for nuns in clausura in the 15th century, but more recently it was referred to as “le carceri” because, from 1883 to 1985, this was Florence’s jail. After decades of neglect it’s been restored and made into a beautiful multi-use space with housing and public areas. The latter are spacious and beautiful and have been reappropriated for creative activities. There will be concerts, conferences, workshops and much more… and our friends at The Florentine have been asked to provide some of these events for a bilingual public. Upon their suggestion, we’re holding a bilingual knitting circle as one of the very first events in the space that is being officially inaugurated by the mayor just 2 days before!
There are three ways to participate in the evening:
Knit a kit
Order the Provence pillow kit for a very special launch price of 25 euros (limited numbers available) by reserving it on Eventbrite and paying in person. If you’d like to try a different kit from our collection, no problem – just send an email to email@example.com and we’ll put it aside for you.
Join us at Le Murate and we’ll teach you how to get started, or if you’re already a knitter, just cast on and go… and maybe lend a hand!
Don’t feel up to knitting but want to test your creative abilities? This is a good solution: We’re making this beautiful crafty necklace with some of the unusual yarns and accessories we have on hand here at the BettaKnit offices. You’ll learn to make a simple crochet chain and end up with an accessory for your summer wardrobe.
Bring your own
We just want to be social – bring your own needles and yarn and join us while you work on your own project. Maybe you’ll be inspired by some of our yarn for sale – again just send us an email if you’d like us to bring you some.
There will be music spun by our local DJ and an aperitivo sponsored by American Salad Co., who is whipping up an excellent selection of their most popular items for us: the menu includes potato salad, coleslaw, and hummus.
